Founded in 1984, Boston GreenSpace Alliance is a private, nonprofit organization dedicated to the protection, creation, care and use of Boston's parks and open spaces. The Alliance is the recognized leader on open space issues in Boston and serves as a "watchdog and voice" on policy and planning matters affecting open space in the city.

The Boston GreenSpaceAlliance is helping to ensure the continued improvement and expansion of Boston's green and open spaces through critical advocacy work. Each day, the Alliance works with state and city officials and a network of conservation groups to make strides in the protection, creation, care and use of the city's open spaces.

Plant Yourself in the Park Day, June 05 2004, (www.BostonParks.org) is the first annual citywide volunteer day focused solely on Boston's playgrounds, gardens, schoolyards and other open spaces. It is a day of service and celebration that will bring communities together in every neighborhood of the city. Roles needed during the event at each location include:
- Registration Table: Registering volunteers and directing them to their work area
- Clean Up Volunteers: Raking, sweeping, cleaning up debris etc
- Day before Volunteers/Morning of Volunteers: Set up of signs, pick up tools, organizational details
- Post Event Volunteers: Signage removal, return tools, take down
