Parents Helping Parent's (PHP's) mission is to promote and support healthy parent/child relationships and break the cycle of child abuse through peer-led, professionally facilitated mutual help groups which provide a nurturing, non-judgmental environment in which to improve family relationships.
Help fight child abuse and promote healthy parent/child relationships! PHP's Parental Stress Hotline is looking for volunteers who would like to help distressed parents better cope with their concerns related to their children. This is a great opportunity for people who are caring, empathetic and non-judgmental. Issues discussed on the hotline include: child abuse, domestic violence, drug abuse, family planning, family violence, foster care, substance abuse, teen pregnancy, crisis relief, discipline, and suicide. Interested? Email info@parentshelpingparents.org, or call us at 617-926-5008 x101.
- Telephone Counselor - We will fully train you. You will learn valuable counseling techniques and communication skills. You will also learn how to respond in stressful situations. After training, each volunteer commits to one 4-hour shift per week and there is an option to complete shifts from home (although we welcome volunteers to take calls at our Watertown office!).
